Vice-President, Botanical Artists of Nova Scotia Association (BANSA)
Born in Kitchener, Ontario
Resides in Halifax

Helga moved to Halifax from St. Paul’s College at the University of Waterloo at the end of 1999 with her husband Bob.

At the age of 75 she began to study botanical art with Julie Wilson, who has since returned to South Africa. Julie awoke in her a passion for painting flowers in the botanical art style. She works exclusively from live specimens which she gets from generous gardener friends, supermarkets, roadsides, markets and the backyards of willing friends, anywhere a beautiful flower (that can legally be picked) calls to her. Helga paints regularly with other botanical artists from whom she gets advice and inspiration.

Group botanical art shows were held recently in the Blue Room at Summer Gardens and at the RBC in Upper Tantallon as part of the Studio Tour, Peggy’s Cove Area Festival of the Arts.
